Grace Updates: Saturday, May 30

Dear Grace Community,

“…Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.  They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”  Acts 2:2-4

You can hear this same passage, read by members of our church, in English, Spanish, and German by going here: https://vimeo.com/423617209

Sunday is Pentecost.  On this day we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  There is evidence of the Holy Spirit all around us, moving, breathing, washing over us.  At the same time, there is evidence of a parched world, longing for the Spirit.

More than 100,000 people in our country are dead from the Coronavirus, and I give thanks that the death rate is slowing.  I hope and pray that trend continues.  As I write this, the city of Minneapolis cleans up from a night of violence, and I struggle with those images as well as the image of a police officer kneeling on a man’s neck.

I lament the overwhelming pain in our world, and I’m grateful that in the face of this pain we continue to worship together, even if it’s online.  I hope you join us Sunday at 10 am on Facebook Live.

Let us know how you are.  Email the church staff or call us to check in and share.  We miss you and pray for you.

In Christ,
Catherine
