What’s the Confirmation Class Up To?

In October, we started a new confirmation class.  All young people eighth grade and older, who were not already members of Grace, were invited to join the class.  We have seven teenagers in the class, and they represent seven different schools: Brooks Middle, Robinson Middle, Berean Academy, Southeast High, East High, North High, and Circle High.

Kirk Anderson is the primary leader for the class, and Catherine Neelly Burton assists.  We’re grateful for other adults who jump in to teach and help.

This year we’re using the PCUSA curriculum, Big God – Big Questions.  This fall we explored these questions:

  • How do we know and trust God?
  • What is sin and how do we turn from it?
  • Who is your Lord?
  • Who is your savior?

We finished 2019 with a mission morning.  On December 7, we served at the Giving the Basics Warehouse.  Giving the Basics provides USD259 and Wichita non-profits with basic hygiene items.  We sorted, bagged, and boxed shampoo.  We catalogued soap and deodorant.  The group was focused and enthusiastic about the project.

This winter we begin visiting other worshiping communities, and we continue with our big questions.  Please pray for all who are part of this class.

The Grace Session is the governing body of the church and oversees all aspects of church life.  The Session has studied areas of congregational vitality, and as we seek to lead the congregation, we want to hear from you.  Please take a few minutes to take this brief survey:

Morning Worship

Bus Tickets and Morning Worship: December 13

Each month Grace distributes bus tickets to people in our community.  This happens on the 15th of the month, or if the 15th is on a weekend we meet the Friday before.  Volunteers and those receiving tickets begin to gather around 6:30 am in the Grace Alcove. We offer a brief worship service at 7:30 am.  Guests are greeted with smiles, coffee, water, and a place to sit. Tickets are distributed at 7:45 am.

We can always use volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and ticket distribution.  Want to help?  Contact Kirk Anderson, kirk@mygpc.org or 684-5215.

Christmas Eve at Grace

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is Tuesday, December 24. We worship in the evening at 5 pm (Great Room) and 8 pm (Sanctuary).  Both services include the Lord’s Supper, and the 8 pm service includes candlelight. Children are always welcome in worship, but if you prefer, a nursery is available at both 5 pm and 8 pm. Christmas Eve is a night of beauty and mystery: join us.
