Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven as treasure hidden in a field, a pearl of great value, and a net cast wide into the sea. These parables invite us to recognize God’s grace in unexpected places and to discover a joy worth ordering our lives around. The journey of faith is rarely straight or predictable, but God meets us along the way and invites us to participate in the kingdom’s work of mercy, justice, welcome, and love.
