Laundry Love - College Town Laundry

Laundry Love Pizza Party: September 11

Grace Laundry Love started in February of 2015.  Since then we’ve paid for approximately 1100 loads of laundry for brothers and sisters in Wichita.

At our September Laundry Love we’re not only doing laundry, we’re also eating pizza.  We did this last summer, and guests were appreciative of the extra hospitality.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience Laundry Love, this is the Sunday to stop by and see it in action.  We’ll be at College Town Laundry at 3223 E 17th St, by the WSU Campus on Sunday, September 11, from 2:30-5:30 pm.  We pay for three loads of laundry per person.

This is a mission of our evangelism team, and we’d love for you to join us.

From the Pastor’s Desk: September 4

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful,
the Lord God made them all.

The cold wind in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden,
God made them every one.

Dear Grace Community,

The words from the hymn, “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” come to mind as I take note of the change of seasons. Yes, it still feels very much like summer with 90 degree days and the air conditioner blasting in the church, but school has started, and we’re gearing up for fall. So a new season is here at Grace.

he choir returns to worship on September 11, and Sunday School classes for children, youth, and adults kick off that same day. The youth group begins a new schedule that  week, and a Bible study on Psalms begins too. Our fall worship theme is “Faith is a Verb,” and each week in worship we look at a different verb and how it relates to discipleship.  An active faith takes an active commitment. A new season is a good time to take stock of where things are in your life. Is your faith life active?

My hope for members of our community is that you live out your discipleship through study, mission, worship, and fellowship. Is there an area where you would like to connect?  Seek out opportunities this fall.

I often say that our church is an organic body, always changing.  As new people come into our community it’s a big help to them if you wear a nametag on Sundays. If you need one, contact Martin Burch in the Grace office, 316-684-5215 or marburch@mygpc.org to order one.  The cost is $5 per nametag.

In Christ,

Catherine

Youth at Grace

Change…It’s a God Thing

By Kirk Anderson, Director of Youth Ministries

Every year, after the end of the school year, the Student Ministry Team reviews the past. Then we look for ways to improve our ministry with the goal of being available to bring God’s love and grace to as many youths as possible.

From this review, we made a significant change with regards to our INSPIRE Middle High Wednesday Fellowship. Beginning September 14, we move from a right after school program to dinner and fellowship starting at 5:30 pm. Our goal with this change is to reach youth that can’t make it directly after school in time for our fellowship and for those youth who participate in after school programs and would have to make a choice. We have an amazing team of leaders: Capri Zimmerman, Charlene Randle, David Shaw and Andrew Hetrick.

We also recognized a need for a continued after school Wednesday option for those kids that need a place to hang out until Fellowship. So we are moving our Chess club to Wednesday after school. It’s led by two very talented leaders, Ann Graham and Gary Hart. Chess club is from 4-5:15 pm in Room 101.

We also have a study hall in Room 103 from 4-5:15 pm for kids who don’t play chess. We are very excited to try this new format and look forward to seeing God’s love continue to take hold of these students.
