Invitation to Romans Bible Study

bibleAre you interested in an in-depth Bible Study? This fall, Pastor Catherine Neelly Burton invites you to join her for “Invitation to Romans.”  This is a nine-week study of the book of Romans.  It is part of the Disciple Curriculum.  In previous years Grace has offered, “Invitation to Psalms,” “Invitation to John,” and “Invitation to the Old Testament.”  These studies emphasize both knowledge and faith formation.

The commitment for this study is a weekly class of one hour and a couple of hours of homework a week. It’s fine to miss a class on occasion, but you need to make at least 75% of the classes. Zoom is an option for someone who can’t be in person, but we are not equipped for a fully hybrid class. This means that Zoom will lack some of the elements of the class, but it’s a good way to keep up if you’re out of town.

Materials for the class are a study Bible and study guide  The guides may be purchased from Grace for $15.  A kindle version of the book is available through Amazon as are other options for purchase.

The classes meet on Tuesdays at 1:30 pm or 6 pm. Classes begin September 14 with an overview session and go through November 9. Sign up on the bulletin board at Grace or by calling the church office. Contact Catherine Neelly Burton catherine@mygpc.org with questions.  Childcare is available for class upon request.

Backpack Event: Thank you!

Thank you to all who donated to make the backpack party a success.  The Grace refugee team spent Friday morning sorting supplies and preparing for the event.  Saturday was full of more volunteers and families coming to receive backpacks as well as books and snacks.  Covid vaccines were also available.

We are grateful for the leadership of First Presbyterian in hosting and for the many partnerships that make this event possible.  Our refugee team continues to work closely with the International Rescue Committee here in Wichita.
