Join Grace friends and family for a night at the ball park. We have a block of tickets to see the Wichita Wind Surge play on Saturday, September 11, at 6:05 pm.  Tickets are $15 and come with $3 pre-loaded on them for the concession stand. Sign up and pay at Grace on Sundays August 22 and 29 or by calling the church office.

We’ll watch the game with friends from First Presbyterian Wichita, Westwood Presbyterian Wichita, and the Marion Presbyterian Church.

We continue to be grateful for the financial gift left to the Grace Mission Distribution Team by the Lois Fisher estate.  Earlier in the year we updated you on how the team shared half of the gift.  You may read about that here >

As the team continues to share this gift, we want to hear from you. The team set aside up to $15,000 to share based on ideas from the congregation.  If you have an idea of how the money should be shared, please email Catherine Neelly Burton catherine@mygpc.org or Shelley Duncan ShelleyDuncan@cphcp.com

The parameters for your ideas are that the gifts need to fall within the same categories we designated on the previous round of gifts.  These are based on Lois’ passions and are: Medical, Children, Mental Health, Music, and Missionaries.

Please submit your ideas (where we should give) and the amount you would like for us to give by September 10.

We look forward to hearing from you!

micro church

You are invited to worship in a new way and in a new place on Sunday, August 8, through Micro Churches.  We know that we can worship God anywhere and at any time.1  As a church we center our lives around Sunday mornings with worship at 9 am and 11 am.

We also recognize that most of us aren’t here every single Sunday. Micro Churches are an opportunity to worship in a new way, in a new space, at a new time. Micro Churches also help us see the holy in things that we might not otherwise consider worship, and we get the chance to worship in a smaller setting and get to know people in a new way.

Last October we introduced Micro Churches and had a wonderful time worshiping God at outdoor locations: biking, walking, and kayaking. This August, we bring Micro Churches back at new locations.

In addition to Micro Churches, there is worship at 10 am in the Grace Sanctuary.

There are no number limits on these groups, but we need you to sign up so that we have an idea of how to best prepare.  Sign up at Grace or by calling the church, 316-684-5215.

1    PCUSA Book of Order W-1.0202 : Time – Because God is the author of history, we may worship at any time.; PCUSA Book of Order W-1.0203 : Space – Because heaven and earth belong to God, we may worship in any place.

We’re in the midst of a worship series called, “I’ve been Meaning to Ask…”  Each week we look at a different question and how it connects to scripture and our lives.

You have the opportunity to continue the conversation through a short-term small group.  You are invited to sign up for a two-week group where you look at some of the questions from worship (Where are you from? What do you need? Where do we go from here?) and share thoughts.

You must sign up for a group by contacting the office, 316-684-5215, or signing up on the bulletin board in the building.

The group locations and times are:

  • Tuesday, July 20 and 27 – 6:30 pm in the GPC Parlor
  • Wednesday, July 21 and 28 – 7 pm at the home of Tom and Betsy Bloxham. Participants at the Bloxham home must be fully inoculated from the Covid-19 virus.

Childcare is available upon request.

In July we receive school supplies for the Refugee Backpack Party.  This annual event is held at First Presbyterian in partnership with many faith communities and the International Rescue Committee.

Sign up for what to bring on the bulletin board by the coffee bar.  Grace is assigned certain items to donate including wide ruled loose-leaf paper, Crayola thin markers, and colored pencils.

The Backpack Party is Saturday, August 7, from 10:30 am-3:00 pm.  There are volunteer opportunities on the day of the event as well as the days before.  Stay tuned for more information.
