Please note that checks must be delivered or postmarked on or by December 31 in order to claim a charitable contribution deduction in 2022, even if the check is predated to 2022 or was actually written in 2022. Checks that are written, mailed, and postmarked in 2022 will be deducted in 2022 though they are not received by the church until 2023. You can also give online in 2022, but make sure you give early enough for our vendor to register the credit or debit card gift in 2022. In addition, be sure to wait to file your tax return until after you’ve received your statement from the church.
