Holy Week and Easter: Thank You!

Easter Sunday

We are grateful for Holy Week and Easter.  Our services were beautiful and holy.  Many, many people – staff and volunteers – gave time and talents to make it all happen.

We are blessed by musicians, artists, actors (can you believe the memorizing that those disciples did for Maundy Thursday?), deacons, staff, and unnamed volunteers who gave so that we might prepare for and celebrate the resurrection.

Sunday, April 24: Two Distinct Ways to Worship

On Sunday, April 24, the 9 am worship service is off site, and the 11 am worship service is in the Sanctuary.

The 9 am service gathers at the Great Plains Nature Center – 6232 East 29th St, 67220 – for breakfast, worship, and a trash pick-up.  Breakfast is provided, as are garbage bags for the pick-up. We’ll have some gloves, but bring work gloves if you have them.

Good Neighbor Team

The Good Neighbor Team is gearing up for a second season of service!

The Good Neighbor Team works in partnership with the Code Enforcement Office of the city and county.  This office looks for volunteers to complete physical labor at the homes of people who are at risk of fines for code violations.  Many of these people do not have the physical or financial means to complete the projects.  Projects include things like yard clean up, demolishing a broken shed, and lawn mowing.

Our team strives to complete one project a month in the late spring through early fall.  Projects occur mostly on Saturdays and occasionally on weekdays.  Bill Vavra and Bruce Gealy lead this team.  If you are interested in participating or have questions, contact Teresa Stange in the church office, teresa@mygpc.org 316-684-5215.

You do not need specific skills to join this team, only a willingness to do manual labor and a desire to help our neighbors.
