Youth Coffee House – Talent Night: March 29

Coffee House This Year we start a new fundraiser for our annual IGNITE High School Mission trip, July 10 – 19.  This year we partner with TEAMeffort, doing home repair in the Gatlinburg, Tennesse, area.

This year we hold a Coffee House Talent night that showcases talent from our youth group and church family.  The cost is free to attend, and you can enjoy amazing desserts and coffee.

During the evening we kick-off the fundraiser part with our Wall-O-Money.  We have envelopes starting at $1 and growing incrementally up to $200.  You can take one off the envelopes and put in your donation. This helps offset our travel expenses for the 40 youth and adults participating in this year’s trip.  The event is Sunday, March 29, from 4 pm – 5:30 pm.

Please come and enjoy an great evening of fellowship and talent.  For more information you may contact Natalie Merten and nmerten@icloud.com or Kirk Anderson at kirk@mygpc.org.

Maundy Thursday: April 9

Each year we gather to worship on Maundy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter. On Maundy Thursday we commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper with the disciples.  Some years we worship with a Tenebrae service, other years with a drama. Then there is a third way, which we experienced in 2015, 2018, and will experience in 2020.

Recognizing that Maundy Thursday happened around a meal, you’re invited to share a meal together. In mid-March we begin sign-ups at the church. Several Grace members will open their homes that night.  You sign-up for a home and bring a dish to share.  After a potluck supper those at the dinner share a short worship and communion service.  Maundy Thursday is April 9, with the home gatherings starting at 6:30 pm.

Prayer Night: March 24

The season of Lent is a good time to try something different in your faith.  You are invited to a prayer night at Grace on Tuesday, March 24, from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.  Throughout the main level of the church, different rooms and spaces are set up for you to engage in new or different ways of praying at your own pace.  At 7:15 pm, we gather for a brief corporate prayer service.

Morning Worship

Bus Tickets and Morning Worship: March 13

Each month Grace distributes bus tickets to people in our community.  This happens on the 15th of the month, or if the 15th is on a weekend we meet the Friday before.  Volunteers and those receiving tickets begin to gather around 6:30 am in the Grace Alcove. We offer a brief worship service at 7:30 am.  Guests are greeted with smiles, coffee, water, and a place to sit. Tickets are distributed at 7:45 am.

We can always use volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and ticket distribution.  Want to help?  Contact Kirk Anderson, kirk@myGrace.org or 684-5215.

wooden hearts

Wooden Hearts

Proverbs 7:1-3 “1My son, keep my words and treasure my commandments within you. 2Keep my commandments and live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. 3Tie them to your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.”

Last month at Messy Church we talked about offerings.  What do children have to offer to God?

We came up with quite a few things, for example, children offer a curious mind especially when it comes to understanding God.  Children offer joy to those around them.  Children offer time and hope and they can offer their minds by memorizing God’s Word.  Then, it occurred to us that everyone can do this.

So, we invited the entire congregation to join us in memorizing God’s Word during the Kids Lead Sunday Service.

Here’s how to participate…wooden heart ornaments are available outside the children’s ministry office.  Take a wooden heart and write a scripture reference on it that you have memorized.  Then, hang that heart on the bulletin board by the coffee bar where you will find other hearts hanging.  Select another heart with a different scripture to memorize yourself.  Once you memorize that Scripture, bring that heart back and hang it up for someone else to memorize.  Let’s see how many Bible verses we can write on the tablets of our heart as a Church body.
