Mission Spotlight June 2019

The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is a ministry of the Presbyterian Church USA.  PDA responds to disasters around the world, including the recent floods in the Midwest.  One way PDA responds is by distributing buckets filled with clean-up supplies.  In effort to restock the warehouse with buckets, the Presbytery of Southern Kansas challenged congregations to donate money for this purpose.

The Grace Mission Distribution team contributed $1000.  Other churches in the presbytery donated a total of $6027, and the Presbytery Mission Team matched it.  We were able to give $12,055 to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to purchase clean-up bucket supplies.  This will fill 325 clean-up buckets which will be ready to go when another disaster hits.

Help Wanted in July: Sound & Light Operator Substitutes

Are you interested in technology? Can you be available on Sunday mornings? Then we have an opportunity for you! Additional volunteers are needed to learn how to run the sound and light boards for Sunday services. Training is available and your help will make a real difference.

In July everyone who knows how to run the boards will be gone at the same time. If you are willing to help us in the next few weeks contact Martin Burch for more information and training. Call him in the office, 684-5215, or email marburch@mygpc.org. Hope to hear from you soon!

Yellow Bag Sundays

Yellow Bag Sundays in June 2019

Each month on the first Sunday you’re encouraged to take home a re-usable yellow grocery bag, put some non-perishable items in it, and bring it back the next week, or soon thereafter. In June our offering goes to the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.  All non-perishable groceries are welcome. Consider bringing canned meats and canned fruits
