Children’s Ministry April 2019

The Grace Children’s Ministry department has been busy creating a whole new Vacation Bible School Curriculum for June 10-14, 2019.  We feel strongly that when kids have creative success it opens them up to know their Creator in a deeper way.

This year, our VBS kids pretend we are spending a week in Hawaii learning how to play the ukulele. Each age group has lessons each day along with a Bible story, Hawaiian dance, crafts and snack time all around the theme of being a disciple and making disciples.

Missions and service is a big part of VBS this year. Did you know that the first missionaries to Hawaii were Presbyterian? Our kids are going to learn about different missionaries throughout history and current missionaries as well. They get to meet some of our local service teams and see what kind of mission work is being done right here at Grace Presbyterian Church.

We need A LOT of help this year. Would you consider volunteering your time to serve kids at VBS?  If you have one morning free or all five mornings free, we have a place for you. If you would like to donate items or help decorate and set up/tear down, we have a place for you.

Find the signup sheets on the bulletin board in the coffee bar area and put your name and cell phone contact on the spaces that best suit you and your gifts. If you have questions, please email Jennifer at jennifer@mygpc.org and she will do her best to answer your questions.

A new classroom is being renovated upstairs for our elementary age students.  Stay tuned for a personal invitation and open house as we complete this fun project for our kids.

Messy Church

Messy Church: April 14

Messy Church is our once a month interactive worship experience that always ends with free dinner. This year Messy Church happens on the second Sunday of the month at 4:30 pm. Messy Church is designed with children eight and under in mind, BUT people of all ages are welcome. It’s a little different each month, but there is always singing, playing, laughing, praying, and Bible story telling. We wrap up with dinner around 5:30 pm.

SAVE THE DATE! “Gifts of Grace” — April 28 at 10 am

grace logoJoin the celebration for Grace Church’s 110th Anniversary on Sunday, April 28. Brunch is served between the two worship services, plus you have the opportunity to reflect on the many gifts that God, working through Grace, has provided for us over the years.

Our Archives Team has been working to put together both a slide show of our history and actual memorabilia from these 110 years. Many of you remember some great events and people of long ago as well as the recent past. If you’re new to Grace, come and learn about our rich history.

A great meal with cake for dessert awaits you, so we hope you plan to attend. No reservations are necessary. Cost is $6 for adults; $3 for children 11 and under; children under 2 are free; with a family cap of $20.

Deep Roots: Adams Elementary School

Deep RootsOn Tuesday, March 18, we had the joy of presenting a check for $7500 to our neighbors at Adams Elementary School. Adams is located at 1002 N Oliver Street. Adams is close to full capacity, and when we contacted their principal Terry Manning last fall to ask about their needs, she expressed their desire for an outdoor classroom. When classes are full it’s especially nice to get outside for a lesson. Our gift allows Adams to establish this class.

Thank you for your continued generosity and gifts to the Deep Roots Campaign.

Economy Corner

We give thanks for the Economy Corner Ministry. Grace partners with First Presbyterian in running Economy Corner, a secondhand store on the First Presbyterian property at Central and Broadway. Grace and First volunteers staff the store.

If you want to donate clothing to Economy Corner, please drop it off at Grace.  We receive a percentage of the proceeds from Economy Corner, and all money we receive is given away.
