Sunday Morning Preaching Schedule for March 2019

March 3:  We begin our series on the I Am statements of Jesus today. Catherine Neelly Burton preaches. We celebrate  the Lord’s Supper, and we say goodbye to our Alleluias as we prepare for Ash Wednesday and Lent.

March 6: This is Ash Wednesday. Join us for worship as we enter into the season of Lent in preparation for Easter. There are two opportunities for worship. Come to Watermark Books (4701 E Douglas Ave) anytime between 7-9 am for Ashes on the Go. Pastor Catherine Neelly Burton will be there to pray with you and impose you with ashes. The second       opportunity is worship at Grace at 7 pm. This service includes communion and the imposition of ashes.

March 10: On this second Sunday of our I Am series Catherine Neelly Burton preaches, and we look at Jesus statement, “I am the bread of life.”

March 17: This week we focus on Jesus’ statement, “I am the light of the world,” in worship.  Catherine Neelly Burton preaches.

March 24: On this fourth Sunday of our I Am series we focus on Jesus statement, “I am the good shepherd.”  Catherine Neelly Burton preaches.

March 31: This Sunday we focus on Jesus’ words, “I am the true vine.”  We welcome Geoff Snook as our preacher for the day.

Sunday Morning Schedule: March 2019

  • 9 am           Worship in the Great Room
  • 10 am         Education and Fellowship
  • 11 am         Worship in the Sanctuary

Worship at 9 am is in the Great Room and is led musically by our band.  The style is less formal than the 11 am service.  The 11 am service is in the Sanctuary and is led musically by our choirs.  The style is more traditional.

Children and Youth

  • Children ages 0-Pre-K

A nursery is available all morning from 8:50 – 12:15. From 10 – 10:45 Colissa Fry leads a Sunday School lesson for these children.

  • Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

Kindergarten – 2nd grade meets in room B10 (in the basement) also known as the ‘Foundation Station.’

  • 3rd – 6th Grades

3rd, 4th, and 5th graders meet in room 206 (on the 2nd floor).  This year 6th graders join this class as mentors for the younger students.

  • Youth

7-12th graders meet in the Youth Center (downstairs)

Adults

On March 3 we begin our Lent Study on the book The God We Can Know by Rob Fuquay. The book focuses on the I Am sayings of Jesus.  Our study goes from March 3 – April 14.  Each week the book focuses on a different I am saying, and worship is focused on the same saying. There are 3 options for study.

Compost!

On Sunday, February 24, we started two indoor compost tubs. Children and youth are invited to bring compostable items to add to the tubs from March 3 – April 14. Compostable items include: leaves, grass clippings, fruit and vegetable peels, egg shells, coffee grounds, and tea bags. Take note of our compost tubs in both of our Sunday morning worship spaces.

Make a Difference Today and Tomorrow: Planned Giving Luncheon, Sunday, March 24

You’re invited to lunch with the Planned Giving Team on March 24, from 12:15-1:15 pm, in the parlor.  Lunch is $5 and is catered by College Hill Deli.  Over lunch we’ll hear about Donor Advised Funds and their advantages.  We’ll also hear about the ways our endowments are at work and what opportunities for giving are available to everyone.

Messy Church

Messy Church: March 17

Messy Church is our once a month interactive worship experience that always ends with free dinner.  This year Messy Church happens on the second Sunday of the month at 4:30 pm.  BECAUSE OF SPRING BREAK WE MEET ON THE THIRD SUNDAY OF MARCH!

Messy Church is designed with children eight and under in mind, BUT people of all ages are welcome.  It’s a little different each month, but there is always singing, playing, laughing, praying, and Bible story telling.  We wrap up with dinner around 5:30 pm.
