Guests are coming again!  We are excited to assist East Heights UMC with Family Promise the week of September 21-28.  There are many ways to be the “hands and feet of Christ” as we serve these guests (families with children experiencing homelessness) staying overnights the week at EHUMC.

Anyone who will have contact with our guest families will need training. If you can only bring supplies, help with setting up, or take down after the week, no training is required.  Any questions, call, text, or email Kimberley Adams-McDarty 316.204.1230 Arnp48@gmail.com

Let’s show how Grace loves to serve God by serving our neighbors!

Family Promise

Martin Burch has been gradually transferring his responsibilities to other staff members and is now ready to step into retirement fully.  His last day on staff was August 31, 2025.  He plans to take some well-deserved time away from Grace for several months, but he and Marianne still plan to worship at Grace.  He looks forward to continuing to use his adept theatre skills to support transformative worship experiences.

As we honor Martin’s years of service at Grace, we invite members to contribute to a retirement gift in his honor. Contributions can be sent to the church office, Attention: Tricia, or made online.  Please include “Martin Burch” in the memo line.  We honor him on September 28, 2025, with a BBQ luncheon following the 11:00 am service.

At Grace, we believe that the church is at its best when everyone shares their gifts and talents. We are deeply grateful for the many volunteers who serve faithfully each week—whether welcoming people at the church office, assisting in worship, leading in Sunday school, preparing meals, helping in the kitchen during the week, visiting those in need, caring for our grounds, assisting with bus ticket distribution, or helping with the behind-the-scenes details that keep everything running smoothly.

Your time, energy, and servant hearts make a difference in countless ways. Because of you, Grace is not only a place of worship but also a place of hospitality, compassion, and hope.

If you haven’t yet found your place to serve, we invite you to prayerfully consider becoming a volunteer. There are opportunities for every age, schedule, and ability level—from one-time projects to ongoing ministries. Volunteering is a wonderful way to connect with others, grow in your faith, and share God’s love in practical ways. To learn more, contact the church office and speak with Tricia Mora.

Pastor Kevin is looking forward to getting to know the members of Grace in the coming months.  Members are hosting dinners and desserts for smaller groups of people throughout September.  Signup sheets are posted by the coffee bar, so stop by and sign up.

If you’d like to schedule a visit with Pastor Kevin in the church office, he is available Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm throughout September (These hours may be adjusted moving forward as he settles into a new routine).

With Rev. Ireland joining us soon, it’s time to start wearing our Grace name badges again. We’ve also welcomed some new faces to Grace, so let’s be sure to introduce ourselves!

If you would like an engraved name tag, the cost is $6.00. If you would prefer a printed name badge, Tricia will be happy to make one for you and place it on the board. You can email her at tricia@mygpc.org or call the office to request either option.
