  • Every two seconds someone in the US needs blood.
  • One pint of blood (the approximate amount given in a donation) can be used to help up to three people.
  • About 1/3 of the US population is eligible to give blood.
  • Five million patients in the US need blood every year.

On November 11, we host a Red Cross Blood drive at Grace from 8 am – 1 pm.  Sign up to donate on Sundays at Grace, by calling the office – 684-5215, or by going here: http://www.redcrossblood.org/rcbmobile/drive/chooseDonationTime.jsp.

You may use the “rapid pass” and save time on the day of your donation. Go to redcrossblood.org/RapidPass to finish the pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online before coming to your appointment.

Trunk or Treat hits the street this year at the Legacy Ministries Community Garden (945 S. Wichita Street).  Each year Grace Presbyterian turns Trunk or Treat into a mission-centered offering where families can serve together.  You may decorate your car or lawn chairs if you like or just bring your car and a lawn chair without decorations.  Either way the idea is to create a fun line of treats and games for the neighborhood kids.  You may hand out candy or alternative treats like stickers, pencils, play-doh, or plastic rings/ bouncy balls.  Set-up is at 4:30 pm, and the actual event is from 5-7pm.

Due to wet weather, we rescheduled our Blessing of the Animals for Sunday, October 21, at 1 pm.  We gather on the east lawn for a brief worship service and blessing.  We look forward to seeing you and your pets (on leashes or contained).

happyHappy? What It Is and How to Find It by Matt Miofsky answers the question of how we can find lasting happiness in our lives. The book defines what happiness looks like according to the Bible and then describes ways that we can achieve happiness through relationships, a forgiving lifestyle, living in the present, feeling gratitude, and learning to release control.

Matt Miofsky explores these concepts through some unexpected biblical texts, but his basic theology is sound: it is only when we turn to God that we will find lasting happiness.

The class meets for four weeks in Room 101 on Sundays: October 21, 28, November 4 and 18.  It meets at 10 am in Room 101.

A book is available for purchase for $10. The book enhances the classes, but it is not required.
