Grace has an opportunity to be a blessing to the people of Romania, as well as displaced refugees from Ukraine. Pastor Sorin Voica from Sibiu, Romania, Director of the Union of Churches for Sibiu, needs hygiene supplies to give to the refugees as well as provide items to poverty areas near the Ukraine border. There is a group of people from Wichita leaving on October 10 for seven days to assist Pastor Voica in ministry and outreach. The hygiene items needed are travel size only and no aerosol items. They distribute the items in individual zip-lock bags after a worship service.

Travel-sized items needed include the following:

    • Shampoo
    • Toothpaste
    • Conditioner
    • Toothbrush
    • Bath Soap
    • Tissue Packets
    • Deodorant
    • Chapstick (non-tinted)
    • Hand Lotion
    • Gum
    • Hand Sanitizer
    • Mints (no chocolate)

(NOTE:  One of each of the items above is placed in each bag. No aerosol sprays, please).

If you would like to donate money instead, the funds are used to pay for shipping the supply tubs to Romania three weeks prior to the mission trip. The deadline for bringing items or cash donations is Friday, September 29. Thank you for helping to meet this need! We’re gearing up for a new season with our choir and bell choir. The choir starts rehearsals on Wednesday, August 30, at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary. Choir members rehearse weekly on Wednesdays and lead worship at the 11:00 am service on Sundays. If you like to sing, we would love to have you join us at any point in the season!

Bell choir rehearsals start Wednesday, September 6, from 5:15-6:00 pm in the bell choir room. Bells meet weekly for rehearsal and lead worship at the 11:00 am service every 4-6 weeks. Whether you’re an experienced ringer or a beginner, we would love to welcome you to our group.

The Good Neighbor Team did another yard cleanup on Saturday, August 19.  We helped Mathew sort through a large amount of material in his backyard, throwing much of it away and stacking/storing a number of other items.

Larry Cracraft is leading a series of stand-alone discussions for adults, in the parlor at 10 am during August. No prep is required – just show up!

On Saturday, August 12, the Presbytery of Southern Kansas met for their quarterly meeting. Representatives from churches from all out the Presbytery were in attendance. A couple of people who are close to Grace participated as well. Scott Randle was commissioned as the Commissioned Ruling Elder (Lay Pastor) for the churches in Viola and Wellington. Many members from Grace were there to celebrate with Scott, including his family and many former and current Grace members. It was a God-driven moment, and we are all excited to see Scott in his new role with these amazing churches. We were also lucky to see Former Pastor Catherine present on her new position with the Presbytery.  For many of us, it was a pleasure to catch up with Catherine and to hear that all is going well.
