Help Us Bless Jacob’s Learning Ladder Families

Again this year we want to show the families of Jacob’s Learning Ladder and Adventure Club how much we appreciate them. We will be thanking these wonderful people by providing Coffee and Muffins-on-the-Go for the parents Monday, May 15, and Tuesday, May 16, from 6:45 am to 9:45 am each day.

Please help us bless these families with radical hospitality by either providing muffins to the church that you can drop off or by signing up to help greet the parents on one or both of the mornings in shifts. You will find a sign-up bulletin board in the hallway by the coffee bar. This is a wonderful ministry of Grace, and we want to let these families know how much we care about them and their children.

Have questions? Feel free to contact Maggie McIntire Margaret.McIntire@sedgwick.gov, Chris Alexander chriskimalex@sbcglobal.net, Merodee Grannis or Nancy Morrow.

You’re invited to play!  On Sundays May 7, 14, and 21, adults, youth, and children are invited to the Great Room for Bible Trivia.

Don’t know much about the Bible? That’s okay!

This is about playing and learning with people of all ages.  Children’s Sunday School teachers will be present, but we want parents to join us, too. Don’t have kids? This is the perfect time for you to get to know some of the children in our congregation.  Join us!

Holy week begins on Palm Sunday, April 9. On this day we celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, and we prepare for the long hard week ahead. The scripture foreshadows the betrayal that is to come.

On Thursday, April 13, we gather at 6:30 pm in the Grace Great Room for Maundy Thursday Worship. The Drama Team presents The Living Last Supper, and we celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

Friday, April 14, is Good Friday.  We worship at noon in the Grace Sanctuary.  This service includes, scripture, music, and prayer.  It is about 30 minutes long. Starting at 12:30 pm we hold a prayer vigil in our chapel. Sign up on the bulletin board at Grace for a 30-minute shift. If you cannot be here but want to commit to pray at home, you may sign up that way as well.

Finally, join us Easter Sunday, April 16, as we celebrate the resurrection and give thanks to God for the new life we know in Christ.  Both services include communion and brass. The flower cross will be on the front lawn, and you’re invited to help us decorate it.

April 2

On this fifth Sunday of Lent, we are led in worship by members of the Grace worship team. This team worked with Catherine in studying scripture that was used in worship on the previous three Sundays. On this day we again hear the stories of the Feeding of the 5000, the Woman at the Well, and the Blind Man Receiving Sight, but we’ll hear these stories in new ways. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper at both services.

April 9

This is Palm Sunday. We worship and remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, and we look toward Holy Week. Amy Baumgartner preaches this day.

April 16

This is Easter Sunday. We celebrate the resurrection and give thanks to God for the new life we know in Christ. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper at both services. Catherine Neelly Burton preaches, and our band and choir are joined by brass instruments.

April 23

On this second Sunday of Easter, we look at the story of Jesus’ resurrection appearance to the disciples in John 20.  This is sometimes referred to as the story of ‘Doubting Thomas.’  Catherine Neelly Burton preaches.

April 30

On the third Sunday of Easter, we look at Jesus’ resurrection appearance in John 24, often called the ‘Road to Emmaus.’  We celebrate ‘Bridge Sunday’ in both services, marking milestones in the lives of young people in our congregation. Catherine Neelly Burton preaches.
