This fall we offer Love and Logic at 10 am on Sundays.  The classes start on September 9 and meet in the Parlor.

Love and Logic happens when we allow children to make decisions, make affordable mistakes and experience the natural or logical consequences.  When we balance this with sincere empathy, they develop the following logic: The quality of my life depends on the quality of my choices.

But what do we do when our parenting button gets pushed?  How do we get teens to be respectful and help out around the house?  Is it possible for kids to solve their own problems?

These and many more questions are answered through the Love & Logic workshops.  The Love and Logic techniques really work and remind parents that parenting can be fun again.

NEW Prayer Group forming!

“Encouragement Through the College Years” has an introductory meeting on Tuesday, August 28, at 7 pm in Room 101.

This group is for moms, dads, grandparents, and siblings who meet once a month to pray over issues college students face as they live in and around college campuses. Topics are taken from “And So We Pray – Supporting Young Adults Through the College Years” by Maribeth Harper.

Experts – those who have been through this season of life – are welcome to attend and share their wisdom.  If you are interested, please come on the Tuesday and see what we can do with a school year of prayer. Questions?  Contact Jody Webster, f16gumby@gmail.com or Catherine Neelly Burton, catherine@mygpc.org

Join us in worship on August 19 for the Blessing of the Backpacks. This is a way for our church to offer prayer and blessing for students, teachers, school staff, and families at the start of the school year.  We offer a blessing during both worship services.  In addition, older elementary students receive Bibles in worship.

August 5

On this first Sunday of the month we hear Jesus tell his followers that he is the bread of life.  We share the Lord’s Supper, and Catherine Neelly Burton preaches.

August 12

Catherine Neelly Burton preaches from Ephesians 4:25-5:2.

August 19

On this Sunday we offer the ‘Blessing of the Backpacks’ in both worship services.  Catherine Neelly Burton preaches.  The texts for the day are from Proverbs 31:8-9 and Colossians 3:12-17.

August 26

We’re glad to welcome Geoff Snook back to the pulpit on this Sunday.
