Yellow Bag Sundays – September 2017

Each month on the first Sunday you’re encouraged to take home a re-usable yellow grocery bag, put some non-perishable items in it, and bring it back the next week, or soon thereafter. Our contributions this month go the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church food pantry. Consider bringing toilet paper or canned vegetables in September.

What do disciples do?  We’re called to be disciples of Jesus Christ, but what does that mean?  Beginning September 17, we explore discipleship together in worship. Each week we look at what disciples do. Disciples: Risk, Hope, Love, and Witness. This list is not exclusive but gives us plenty to think about, talk about, and to put into action.

Women’s Ministry

onethousandgiftsphotobook-HiRes-255x300The book club has a new night of the week. The group now meets on MONDAYS, on the last Monday of the month. The next meeting is September 25.

The next gathering is held at Pam Head’s house, 300 S Lynwood (near Eastborough) at 6:30 pm.

The book is One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp.  Please read chapters 1-3 for the next meeting.

Mission Spotlight: Refugee Backpack Event

On Saturday, August 12, hundreds of students from the Wichita Refugee Community received backpacks and school supplies at First Presbyterian Church.  Grace joined First Presbyterian and Trinity Presbyterian in partnering with the International Rescue Committee for this event.  Here are some reflections from Grace Participants.  This is part one of two in this series.

Grace Tutoring

The Grace Tutoring Program begins its twentieth year this fall.  The Tutoring Program takes place during the week, so many of us at Grace never see it in action, but the impact is incredible.  Students from Hyde Elementary School are paired up with adult tutors for reading.  The majority of the tutors are Grace members, but non-members are welcome too.
