Each month Grace distributes bus tickets to people in our community.  This happens on the 15th of the month, or if the 15th is a weekend we meet the Friday before.  Volunteers and those receiving tickets begin to gather around 7 am in the Grace alcove. Guests are greeted with smiles, coffee, water, and a place to sit. Tickets are distributed at 8 am.

Recently the bus schedule changed, and so in September we’ll hold our communion service at 7:40 am in the chapel.  All are invited to worship.

We can always use volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and ticket distribution.  Want to help?  Contact Kirk Anderson, kirk@mygpc.org or 684-5215.

Grace Laundry Love started in February of 2015.  Since then we’ve paid for approximately 1100 loads of laundry for brothers and sisters in Wichita.

At our September Laundry Love we’re not only doing laundry, we’re also eating pizza.  We did this last summer, and guests were appreciative of the extra hospitality.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience Laundry Love, this is the Sunday to stop by and see it in action.  We’ll be at College Town Laundry at 3223 E 17th St, by the WSU Campus on Sunday, September 11, from 2:30-5:30 pm.  We pay for three loads of laundry per person.

This is a mission of our evangelism team, and we’d love for you to join us.

Want to know more?  Contact Catherine Neelly Burton in the church office, 684-5215.

Each month on the first Sunday you’re encouraged to take home a re-usable yellow grocery bag, put some non-perishable items in it, and bring it back the next week, or soon thereafter.  This month our contributions go to the food pantry at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church.  Consider bringing canned fruit or cereal.

September 4

Geoff Snook preaches, and we celebrate communion at both services.

September 11

We kick off our fall series “Faith is a Verb.”  Our first verb is ‘practice,’ and we look at 2 Timothy 1:1-14 and consider how we practice our faith.  Catherine Neelly Burton preaches

September 18

Our verb for this Sunday is ‘Follow.’  Catherine Neelly Burton preaches.  We look at Jesus’ challenge to take up the cross and follow him.

September 25

The verb for this Sunday is ‘Wrestle,’ and we look at Genesis 32:22-32.  Catherine Neelly Burton preaches.

9 am           Worship in the Great Room

10 am         Education and Fellowship

11 am         Worship in the Sanctuary

Worship at 9 am is in the Great Room and is led musically by our band.  The style is less formal than the 11 am service.  The 11 am service is in the Sanctuary and is led musically by our choirs. The style is more traditional.

Here’s where you will find education and fellowship opportunities in September.

 Adults

The Christian Discipleship Team has a diverse and inspiring line-up of Sunday morning classes for adults this fall.  We have two four-week units planned.  The first unit is from September 11 – October 2.  Classes are from 10 – 10:45 am.  There are three adult classes to choose from.

  • Raising Kids with Love and Logic: From the Delivery Room to the Dorm Room
    • Join Jennifer Snook and Cindy Dethloff for an interactive look at raising kids.  This class is ideal for parents, grandparents, and anyone else who spends time with young people. Jennifer and Cindy will introduce the class to the ‘Love and Logic’ approach of working with children and youth.  This class meets in Room 101.
  • Sacred Art and History
    • Join Randy Routsong and Steve Hooper for a look at sacred art and the history around it.  As this dynamic duo works together, Randy will focus on the art and Steve on the history.  This class is lecture based and meets in the Chapel.
  • God Calls Us All: Passion and Action
    • Carolyn Shaw leads this video based class.  Each week the class will watch a video and hear from someone who heard God’s call and answered.  The stories explore the surprising ways that God calls and challenges us, the ways God puts us in situations we wouldn’t expect, and the ways God walks with us through it all.  This class meets in Room 103.
