Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on February 18. This year we again have two opportunities for Ash Wednesday worship. The first is Ashes On the Go at Watermark Books.

Pastor Catherine Neelly Burton is at Watermark Books from 7-9 am to mark you with ashes as you start your day. This is an opportunity for you to share your faith both by wearing your ashes and by making a public witness at our neighborhood bookstore. It’s a come-and-go time, though you’re welcome to get some coffee and hang out for a while.

At 7 pm that evening, we gather in the Grace Sanctuary for an Ash Wednesday service that includes the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. In addition the chancel choir sings.

It’s time for our Congregational Lunch and Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 8.

Join us for lunch following the 11 am worship service on Sunday. Lunch is $8 a person, $3 for children under 12, with a family max of $19.

We’ll enjoy fellowship followed by our annual congregational meeting.

Each month, on the first Sunday, you’re encouraged to take home a re-usable yellow grocery bag, put some non-perishable items in it, and bring it back the next week or soon thereafter.

We’re doing something quite different for February. You’re invited to bring a pack of new men’s tube socks. We’ll take the socks to Interfaith Ministries so they can distribute them to guests at the overflow homeless shelter.

Thank you.

Tonight we welcome Jacob’s Learning Ladder children and their father/grandfathers/uncles/etc. for “dad’s night” at Grace. This fun night of games and activities is always a hit.

Calling all Shocker Fans! We’re getting together to watch the game on Saturday, January 31. We’ll stream the game on the big screen in the Great Room.

We’ll have pizza. Please bring a few dollars to donate if you can.

Tip-off is at 3 pm, so come around 2:45 pm to watch the Shockers take on Northern Iowa.
