Jacob’s Learning Ladder Open House: Sunday, August 26

Join the staff and families of Jacob’s Learning Ladder for an open house.  Jacob’s celebrates its 30th year this fall!

The open house takes place after both worship services on Sunday, August 26. This is an opportunity to learn about this incredible ministry and to look forward to this new school year.

Check out classrooms, look at pictures, hear stories, and enjoy some refreshments. Jacob’s classes are on the lower level of Grace and on the main floor in Rooms 106 and 107. Come and hear about the goals for the next 30 years!

Summer

By Jennifer Snook, Director of Children’s Ministries

Summer is the season where routines change a bit, time slows down for some, and the days are longer and warmer. The season is often a favorite for families because they take time to reconnect and make memories.

All too soon the rush of school mornings begins, and while some long for the schedule and the routine, some of us long for the pace of summer. Pacing is always healthy for us. One way to ensure our spiritual pace is to guard some time each day to connect with God in his Word and in prayer. Some people enjoy listening to inspiring music or completing a Bible study or devotional.

Whatever way God has wired you to connect with the Holy, our prayer in the children’s ministry area at Grace is that you stay connected. Messy Church is one offering that allows families to do just that. Come to worship together and engage with one another where Jesus is the center of it all. Please pray about attending this once-a-month worship service and inviting a family who could benefit from some community and connection.

As a church, let us come together and pray for these families to have all the tools they need to “raise up their children in the way of the Lord, so when they are old they will not part from it. (Proverbs 22:6).”  Perhaps you are a person who could model this proverb for another family. Pray about how you could participate in this wonderful and precious ministry at Grace.\

The VBS kids offer a special musical performance at 11 am Friday, with seating starting at 10:40 am. Snacks are served everyday and children are exposed to a variety of different musical instruments as they learn all about the life and ministry of the great biblical musician, King David.  You won’t want to miss this exciting opportunity.  Kids first grade and older learn how to play the mountain dulcimer and even perform a song for parents and friends on Friday before VBS closing. If you would like to be involved as a volunteer please contact Jennifer Snook at jennifer@mygpc.org.

Children’s Ministry News: December 2017

Children’s Ministry at Grace has been messy and busy lately.  You won’t want to miss the Messy Christmas Church coming up Sunday, December 17, at 4:30 pm. Join us as your family takes a Christmas “journey” and meets some famous Christmas characters.

Messy Church is designed for families with children eight years and under. Older children and families are welcome to help as we need a lot of hands to pull off Messy Church.

Let Jennifer or Catherine know if you are interested. In addition to Messy Church, we have a special Pop-up Christmas pageant during the 5 pm worship service on Christmas Eve.  Kids and families may wear costumes if they desire and participate in the reading of the Christmas story.

Grace Children’s Ministry is now collecting paper towel tubes for a Vacation Bible School project.  This year, we team up with Erin Mae Lewis to present A Joyful Noise Vacation Bible School.  Everything revolves around music.  Even the crafts include making musical instruments that are used throughout the week.  Please leave donated paper towel tubes outside Jennifer’s office door.  Many thanks.

Mark your calendars for Children’s Worship Sunday on February 11. This is always a special worship service as we hear from our youngest Christians.  All tower class kids should be listening to the “Bible in a Minute” song and memorizing the words ahead of time.  Here’s a link to the song >
