Children’s Ministry – September 2017

The Children’s Ministry Team at Grace is excited to offer families the following opportunities because we believe that connecting with Jesus is important to do every day. We also believe that families want to do this, but maybe we’re out of ideas, or we wonder where to start.  Hopefully, these options will give you a place to land.

Faithful Families Sunday School Class:

Come explore how families can be faithful together outside the church walls.  We will offer hands on ways for you to incorporate a weekly family devotion, faith filled check-ins and ways to weave Scripture into your daily life.  One family we know writes a Scripture on the foggy bathroom mirror every morning.  Come and share your ideas with is as we learn what it means to raise faithful families.  Sept. 17, 24 & Oct. 1 at 10:00 a.m.

Messy Church:

Launching, September 24 at 4:30 pm. Messy Church is a new worship service designed for families with young children or for children at heart.  Come and explore integrative artwork designed to place you in the middle of a Bible story.

March in the joy-parade after drinking a great cup of Spice Merchant coffee.  Listen to acoustic guitar and learn about one of the famous families in Scripture:  Abraham and Sarah.

We do this through special music led by Robert Roswurm and Co. and then, share a meal together before going home.

Foundation Station and Tower Kids classes begin October 15 at 10 a.m every Sunday

Muffins for Jacob’s Learning Ladder: May 15 and 16

Help Us Bless Jacob’s Learning Ladder Families

Again this year we want to show the families of Jacob’s Learning Ladder and Adventure Club how much we appreciate them. We will be thanking these wonderful people by providing Coffee and Muffins-on-the-Go for the parents Monday, May 15, and Tuesday, May 16, from 6:45 am to 9:45 am each day.

Please help us bless these families with radical hospitality by either providing muffins to the church that you can drop off or by signing up to help greet the parents on one or both of the mornings in shifts. You will find a sign-up bulletin board in the hallway by the coffee bar. This is a wonderful ministry of Grace, and we want to let these families know how much we care about them and their children.

Have questions? Feel free to contact Maggie McIntire Margaret.McIntire@sedgwick.gov, Chris Alexander chriskimalex@sbcglobal.net, Merodee Grannis or Nancy Morrow.

Children’s Ministry: March 23, 2017

Palm Sunday is April 9, and the Children’s Ministry Department invites all Grace Children to participate in the palm processional.

Even if your family worships at the 9 am service, we hope that you will stick around for the processional at 11 am. Those interested should meet in the Narthex at 10:45 am to receive your palm and get lined up. Children are dismissed to their parents after the processional is over, and any parent who would like to process with their child is more than welcome to do so.

We’ve received “New Life” photos from the Lenten paper chain project and posted the photos on the Grace Facebook page. Make sure to check out the photos our Grace kids have taken and be inspired by the new life all around you.

We are in the middle of the Lenten journey and halfway to the cross of Easter.

Where has your Lenten journey taken you?

My prayer is that this season gives you the opportunity to connect deeply to your family and provide ways for you to be creative together and notice one another. Being creative can simply be sitting together and noticing the beauty right outside the living room window.

Did you know that recent research shows that kids who are noticed by the people who love them display more self-confidence, and have less anxiety than kids who are praised by people who love them?  As you connect with your kids in the days to come, take stock of what happens when you notice a particular expression on your children’s  face.  How would they respond if you said something like, “Look at the way you run. I notice that you laugh a lot when you are having fun.”

May new life surprise you this Easter and may you be filled with hope and joy around every turn of the journey.

Give Blood

Red Cross Blood Drive: March 5

Did you know?

  • Every two seconds someone in the US needs blood.
  • One pint of blood (the approximate amount given in a donation) can be used to help up to three people.
  • About 1/3 of the US population is eligible to give blood.
  • Five million patients in the US need blood every year.

On March 5, we host a Red Cross Blood drive at Grace from 8 am – 2 pm.  Sign up to donate on Sundays at Grace, by calling the office – 684-5215, or by going here:
